Klosters is well known amongst railway enthusiasts for being at the junction of two important lines on the famous Swiss narrow gauge mountain railway system, the Rhatische Bahn. The lines to Davos and through the Vereina tunnel both pass through Klosters, resulting in four express trains an hour. All of them can be seen from the chalet's balcony, winding across a meadow a few hundred feet away. The Davos trains perform a U-turn at Klosters and pass in front of the chalet again on the far side of the valley, climbing all the way. It is sometimes possible to see three trains at once whilst sipping a drink in the sunshine on the balcony! The Engadine Star passes by, one change links to the Glacier Express, another to the Bernina Express. All parts of the Rhatische Bahn are easily accessible from the chalet. As the owner is an enthusiast, and a member of the Swiss Railway Society, he is happy to provide advice on specialist itineraries for railway enthusiasts!
